Alba Berlin (@6.0) vs CSKA Moscow (@1.13)

Our Prediction:

CSKA Moscow will win

Alba Berlin – CSKA Moscow Match Prediction | 25-10-2019 14:00

Both teams are determined to have a strong showing in the German capital and to get their EuroLeague journey going strong. Its a historic night for Zenit, which will play in its first-ever Turkish Airlines EuroLeague game, but the occasion is not much less significant for ALBA, which returns to the competition for the first time in five years, and for the third time this decade.

Historically, Fenerbahce has never allowed Zvezda more than 75 points in any of their eight head-to-head games in the competition since 2015, and it the same recipe in this road game once again could do wonders for Nando De Colo, Kostas Sloukas and company. Defense has been the forte of Fenerbahce ever since Coach Obradovic took over at the helm and the team will need a solid performance on that end in this one, too.

With all the size and rebounding ability Barcelona has inside, making shots from downtown and opening up the paint with be key for Efes once again. Efes had great success hitting from downtown last season. Coach Ergin Atamans team made a single-series record 63 triples, or 12.6 per game, in those five playoff games. Efes set an all-time single-season record with 385 three-pointers made, and that was helped by its playoff against Barcelona.

Anadolu Efes Istanbul, last seasons runner up, will be in search of its first victory in the new season when it welcomes ALBA Berlin to Sinan Erdem Dome on Friday. Shorthanded in the opening round, Efes battled hard but could not avoid 64-74 home defeat against FC Barcelona Lassa, while ALBA had a great return to the EuroLeague, downing Zenit St Petersburg 85-65 in the German capital.

The difference between a few three-pointers that go in or dont can greatly impact any game. Zenit was just 7 for 26 (26.9%) in its loss at ALBA, but over the weekend stunned EuroLeague champion CSKA in Moscow in the VTB United League. In that game, Zenit shot 11 for 23 (47.8%) from behind the arc. A strong shooting night for Andrew Albicy, Evgeny Voronov, Austin Hollins and Tim Abromaitis would put Zenit in a much better position against Barcelona.

When Fridzon fed Vorontsevich for a wide-open triple, CSKA was completely in charge again, 52-67. Radosevic started the fourth-quarter scoring inside for ALBA and Weems responded with a transition jumper. Hammonds and Weems traded three-pointers next, and while ALBA got inside scoring from Radosevic and Banic, Hines flushed a dunk and scored a second-chance basket to keep CSKA safe before Jackson drove for another big lead, 60-76. A tip-in by Hines and a dunk by Kaun were followed by Teodosic hitting a baseline jumper at 65-82 as CSKA succeeded in wearing down ALBA to seize a good-as-gold road win.

Alba Berlin - CSKA Moscow

Similar to Efes, ALBA has not done many changes to its roster over the summer, and the team has done a great job staying true to itself despite moving up to play at the EuroLeague level. ALBA plays with great ball movement where all players share the ball, and no one is shy about pulling a trigger. Continuing to play with such mindset will be the key for this team against Efes, too. No team in Round 1 had more than ALBAs 23 assists, but more importantly, each of the 10 players who got minutes registered at least 1 assist.

led to Zalgiris committing 17 turnovers. Ball pressure from Luca Vildoza and co. Youssoupha Fall blocked 5 shots and together with the threat of Michael Eric, they forced the home team into 13 of 36 two-point shooting (36.1%). Baskonia put on a defensive clinic to start the season. If Baskonia can duplicate that kind of defensive effort, it will give Khimki fits. The downside of challenging so many shots was that they gave up 17 offensive rebounds, but nonetheless, Baskonia held Zalgiris to just 58 points.

CSKA has aced its EuroLeague opener in each of the last eight seasons and aims to keep that streak going. Valencia was undefeated at home in the EuroCup last season. Expect an extraordinary basketball atmosphere at Pabellon Fuente de San Luis. The 7DAYS EuroCup reigning champion hosts last seasons Turkish Airlines EuroLeague winner in what promises to be a truly exciting showdown. Its last home loss in European competition came on March 8, 2018 in the EuroLeague.

If Maodo Lo, Nihad Dedovic and Vladimir Lucic can have a repeat presence against CSKA, Bayern will be in a good position, especially with the knowledge that the likes of Greg Monroe, Danilo Barthel and co. The starting guards and swingman totaled 46 points and their back-ups added 18 more (though small forward Paul Zipser did play a few minutes at the 4). wont be kept down for long. Much attention was paid to how Bayern upgraded its frontline over the summer, but in Round 1 it was the perimeter players who got the job done.
