Our Prediction:

Kamaru Usman will win

Colby Covington – Kamaru Usman Match Prediction | 13-12-2019 09:00

This fight hasnt been announced officially yet, but it appears that it will take place at UFC 244 at Madison Square Garden on November 2. The two have been destined to collide for a couple of years now in what could be a close fight, but online sportsbook BetOnline has Usman as the big favorite at -250 with Covington coming back at +195.

After defeating Rafael dos Anjos to claim an interim title, Covington refused to meet the UFCs timeline for a fight with then-champion Tyron Woodley, wanting time to recover, so instead the UFC gave a title shot to Darren Till. Covington clearly learned nothing from that experience as afterwards, when he was once again reportedly in line for a shot at Woodley, Covington once again was unwilling to cater to the UFCs timeline so Usman got the title shot instead and Covington had to fight Robbie Lawler. In fact, this would make the hat trick. History seems to be repeating itself though as now the UFC is reportedly looking into booking Covington;s friend and teammate Jorge Masvidal against Usman, something both Masvidal and his manager hinted at yesterday. But coming off the dominant win over Lawler, most expected Covington to finally get his shot. This would not be the first time Covington missed out on a surefire title shot.

Colby Covington, the pride of being an African-born fighter, and more. Later, Colby Covington calls in, with Kamaru in-studio, and talks about his interim UFC Welterweight title fight against Rafael dos Anjos, how he sees the fight against RDA ending, and then goes back-and-forth with Kamaru about a potential matchup between them. Then, "The Nigerian Nightmare" Kamaru Usman joins in-studio to discuss his UFC Chile win over Demian Maia, the UFC Welterweight title picture, who he feels he should fight next, RDA vs. CM Punk calls in and talks to Jim and guest co-host Phoenix Carnevale about his return to the Octagon in his hometown of Chicago at UFC 225, winning the $4 million defamation lawsuit against him, improving in all areas since his loss to Mickey Gall, Mike Jackson as an opponent, and a lot more. Plus, Jim, Phoenix, and Chris the Producah preview the stacked UFC 225 card and make their picks.

It remains to be seen, but as a training partner of the champ at Hard Knocks 365 in Florida, Lawler knows how good Usman is, too. Will those skills be enough to dethrone Usman (15-1 MMA, 10-0 UFC), who is unbeaten inside the octagon and coming off a lopsided win of his own that saw him claim the 170-pound belt from Tyron Woodley, though?

Here we saw the beautiful #presidentialpalaceabudhabi and saw so many rare books, that only exist here and saw many other cool artifacts. I am so grateful and blessed to be apart of the UFC and to be able to travel the world and experience things such as this, without it I probably would have never seen Abu Dhabi. #abudhabi has been a really neat experience. Its been a really cool experience.

Usman is quite a bit bigger than Covington, which will give him an advantage in those clinches and grappling exchanges.Chaos may have slightly better conditioning, which could give him the edge in the later rounds, but it may be too little, too late at that point. I give the edge to Usman overall though, because of the size. Both men will look to havea strong grappling match and constantly touchtheother with strikes that pile up and tire out the opponent.

Covington and Usman went back and forth for about a minute and a half of uninterrupted insults before Bryant tried to get the interview back on track by asking about a fight happening at Madison Square Garden in November for UFC 244. As expected, the question revived the heated interview as Usman began removing his jacket while simultaneously claiming that the fight between him and Covington was a possiblity for tonight.

Its extremely hard to predict how this fight will go as these two competitors have very similar styles in how they wrestle, use clinch work against the cage and put on a tremendous pace to usually earna decisive decision victory. Neither fighter has tremendous power in their hands as Usman has finished just two of his 10 UFC fights, while Covington has finished four of his nine wins in the Octagon.

I was really shocked to see the odds when they first opened with Usman favored as a -300 favorite and Covington coming back at +230. The line moved quickly in Covingtons favor to where the oddsare now, but I figured theyshould have been much closer and judging by the early line movement, you might be able to get the champion at a better number closer to the event.

However, Usman who is undefeated inside the Octagon (10-0) was sitting ringside inside Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., and, of course, he was not impressed. Of course, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has not made this grudge match official Covington just competed at UFC on FOX 5 this past weekend, grinding out a dominant and lopsided decision win over former division champion, Robbie Lawler (highlights).

I think Dustin is the second hardest challenger for Khabib behind Gaethje which is very unfortunate because of all the possible lightweight champions, Poirier is the worst for the UFC. Hes obviously a great dude and an exciting fighter but the man is not someone whose gonna be a star and he may well kick over this whole applecart tomorrow.
