Derrygonnelly – Belnaleck Match Prediction | 24-08-2019

Thank you very much to Dermot Burns, John Duffy and Donal Duffy for their workfor the last five months with the lads. Our Under 15s fine season came to an end last week as well whenthey lost out narrowly to Lisnaskea in the championship. This was a goodcompetitive tie, and we were in the hunt right until the final minute. Theyrepresented us really well in every respect during that game, which isimportant, and can reflect on a great season with a lot of fine performances.

Good luck also to Fermanagh ladies this Saturday in the AllIreland semi final against London at 2.45 in Clones. Arrangements for theLadies SFC semi against Newtownbutler have been confirmed, with a 4pm throw-inin Derrylin on Saturday August 31st. Our senior Ladies had a win over Devenish in a veryentertaining league match last Wednesday night. Next up for them is anine-a-side match away to Brookeborough on Thursday night. Good luck to all in preparingfor that game.

Our Under 15 boys have a game at home to Tempo on Friday night. OurUnder 10s have started out in their annual tournament, and had two greatefforts, against Enniskillen Gaels last week. They lost out to Newtown away last week in the penultimate fixture. Kinawley picked off acouple of very nice scores in the latter stages of the game, and advance to thefinal. Thelads are very close to the level, and will still get plenty of games over thecourse of the summer. OurUnder 16 girls have qualified for their league final, against Belcoo, and areprovisionally down to play that game on Friday evening, keep an eye out forfuller details. OurUnder 11s finished off the first stage of their season losing out to Kinawleyin a very well contested match at Canon Maguire Park. They are down to travel to Belcoothis week. Thanks very much to all of the coaches who put insuch an effort over the last two months and over the coming months as well.

Good luck to our neighbours Belnaleck. Whether or not that is the case, the focus should be on the stars of the q/f that being Belnaleck who appeared to rattle Ederney's forwards and back to frustrate them in a manner that was unforeseen. The championship isn't over so anything can happen given the shambles last night. I heard there was a bit a scene in the losers changing room afterwards, so the players weren't either happy with some players or management. Although I wasn't at the game, I would disagree with Big Joe assumption's that his team Harps have it the bag.

We had a fantastic day at Canon Maguire as our annual Under 10tournament concluded with our Go Games Blitz morning, then the tournament finalitself. Congratulations to the Kinawley players and their coaches on a fine performancein the final to receive the Gerald Cox Memorial trophy again, and hard luck toour own group who have put in a great effort over the past few months. Thankyou to Dominic Corrigan, Darren Magee, Donal Cox and Kevin McGrath for all oftheir work so far this season, and no doubt the group will have a number ofblitz outings before the end of the year. Thank you also to everyone who helped out on the day: those who set up thepitches, Under 8 coaches Ruairi Dundas and Paul Ward, referees, pitchco-ordinators, catering team, car park stewards and anyone else. Thank you also to Smyth Leslie & Co fortheir generous support of this event. Dominic was doubly on duty onSaturday as he has also co-ordinated the entire tournament plus put thepractical arrangements in place for Saturday. We had almost 350 boys and girls on our pitches, playing games inperfect conditions, which is the number one aim of the whole event. He obviously did a brilliant job.

There is also a raffle ongoing locally, with goodprizes available. All proceeds from the event go to the Childrens Kidney Fund NI. Registration takes place from 9am atDerrygonnelly Community Centre, with a choice of routes between the 10 o'clock120km Fermanagh, Cavan, Leitrim, Sligo Donegal Fermanagh route, or the 10.45am50km Fermanagh version. Onthat note, we wish the organisers and all of the participants in the FiveCounty Cycle a very good spin on Sunday.

The second half saw Devenish begin brightly and with a bitof intent. Big John O pointed from theleft about 35 yards out. Both teams wereblown for a bit of overcarrying and Big John O points another free, while a fewhigh balls were rained in on top of Odhran but he dealt well with them. Next thing ya know, Joe OBrien pops over a21 yard free after a tug of a jersey and shes level! 0-6 to 0-6. The noise from the stand starts boomingaround Brewster as Chris OBrien and Aidy McKenna enter the fray; its game onyou hope!
