The sharper and better balanced side, Dromtariffe emerged far stronger in all departments and hurled with a greater fervour. First time out, Dromtariffe required an additional 20 minutes to dispel the strong Castlemagner challenge, a scoring burst during the first period of extra time highlighted from a pair of goals by Jack Murphy put a generous bit of polish on the scoreboard in favour of a fancied Dromtariffe outfit.

Captain Niall Hayes was exceptional, driving his team forward, while Gore again showed his class with his fourth point from play. Kilmacabeas response to the goal seemed to have the mark of champions about it. And when he pointed a free that he had earned himself to give his side a 2-8 to 1-8 lead, it looked to be enough.

And despite twice reducing the margin to four points in the second period the superiority of the West Cork side eventually shone true. The opening exchanges had Dromtarriffe leading by 0-03 to 0-01 after seven minutes with the brilliant Daniel OKeeffe landing all his sides scores, while Stephen Roche replied with a fine point for the Waterford champions. When Mount Sion lost possession in attack after 10 minutes the ball was quickly transitioned to the elusive Daniel OKeeffe with the Corkman blasting the ball past Nicky Mackey in the Sion goal (1-03 to 0-01).Evan Murphy added another for the Duhallow based side but Mount Sion rallied in the second quarter. Austin Gleeson and Sean Glynn were winning possession at centre-field with both Stephen Roche and Martin ONeill carrying the ball effectively in attack. Appearing in their initial decider, Dromtariffe waited 133 years to enjoy a day of immense hurling joy, their voracious appetite for silverware clearly evident where the dream became a reality. When it mattered, Dromtariffe weren't found wanting, showing massive resolve to come out on top thanks to a productive opening half from a young side that brought a delightful brand of hurling to this game, showing excellent touch and an ability to pick off scores.

"I had a long career playing with Meelin and Duhallow, I came into Dromtariffe when they were Junior B ranked and to win an A championship in just two seasons is absolutely fantastic. To win against Newmarket was brilliant, their coach Eddie (Murphy) is hugely respected, I know him well from his days with Meelin in the past, his hurling career is phenomenal but at least, I've one over him," he said.
