Western Force – Melbourne Rising Match Prediction | 15-09-2019 03:00

The then Super 12 competition was expanding to 14 teams, with one new licence being allocated to an Australian team and another to a South African team. In 2004, a consortium led by the Victorian Rugby Union entered the bidding process for a licence in the Super 14 competition to get a team in Melbourne for the 2006 season.

While I have stated that the team progress this year has been good, I too am bewildered by the fact that a basic skill of a key position player has been seemingly ignored all season. Hopefully that competition for the starting gig will give Pat better opportunities to develop. Sexton hasnt really staked a claim either, so the signing of Chibba can only be a good thing. Im sure that is harsh and probably untrue, but we call it how we see it.

For the Australian Rugby Championship in 2007, however, both Victoria and Western Australia were allocated teams.

The Rebels' jersey had traditional navy blue and white hoops, the colours of the Victorian Axemen side that represented Victoria in the Australian Rugby Shield.[10] The Rebels name was chosen in consultation with the local rugby community.

The Australian Rugby Championship was terminated at the end of 2007 after only one season of competition, with the Australian Rugby Union citing higher costs than budgeted and further projected financial losses.[17] The Melbourne Rebels side was disbanded with the end of the ARC, but was revived in 2010 under the same name as the Super 14 tournament was expanded to the 15-team Super Rugby competition to include the Melbourne Rebels for the 2011 season.

Craig McGrath, coach of the Melbourne Harlequin club, was appointed as backs coach. Both were assistant coaches at the Rebels. The Rising's training base is also at the Harlequin club in Ashwood.[1][22]Nic Stirzaker was named as captain with Mitch Inman, Patrick Leafa and Pom Simona in the team's leadership group.[23] Scrumhalf Luke Burgess played for both the Melbourne Rebels ARC team in 2007 and the Melbourne Rising NRC team in 2014. For the 2014 NRC season, the Melbourne Rising secured RaboDirect as the main jersey sponsor.[21]Sean Hedger and Matt Cockbain were appointed as head coach and forwards coach of the Rising.

Hope its a good game and all the players from both teams finish the season in good nick. Wholl win? But whats happened to the Force? The scrum has been great again this year. Who cares. The halves pair look like they might be a force to reckoned with in years to come. Everyones second favourite team from 2014 only really has 2 (absolutely brilliant) wins against the Tahs to show for 2015. How often has it cost us excellent field position? Leafas lineout throwing this year has been abysmal. The 5 loose forwards playing behind the front row have revealed a great bit of improvisation by the coach.

Whats the deal with the Foley bashing? Possibly a brilliant coach could have won a few more games with those chess pieces, but it is unlikely that many coaches wouldnt have had exactly the same results. He is coaching a team with no stars. Their most capped Wallabies are McCalman who is in the top three in his position, but possibly only 3, and Cummins who is mostly in play because of our lack of depth in wingers. Their captain and possibly best player, Hodgson, is probably fourth in his position. Many of the other players are 5th.
